Both Naperville school districts approved of an online and blended learning program at their latest meetings.
Despite turning down a virtual charter school, both 203 and 204 agreed to be among a consortium of five districts that will offer education remotely.
Qualifying students can learn via the Internet or a blend of the Internet and brick and mortar instruction outside the typical classroom.
Unlike a charter school, the districts will still use their own curriculum and teachers.
Throughout the fall, Naperville’s two districts will continue to work on a possible intergovernmental agreement with the other districts in the group, including those in Batavia, Wheaton and Maple Park.
They may implement the program as soon as fall of 2014.
