OnLight Aurora has partnered with the district for a 5-year agreement, renting them a 10- gigabyte connection to the city of Aurora’s fiber internet network.
This will allow the Metea Valley High School and Crouse Education Center’s data center to function as one.
The new local nonprofit promises a faster – more reliable internet connection through fiber optic lines, which will be installed between the locations.
Fiber optic technology not only offers a safer, faster internet connection, but is also more affordable than its wireless competitor.
Construction on the data sites will begin in late summer with the connection going live by February 2014.
The fiber optic connection will also benefit the district’s “Bring Your Own Technology” initiative. This year, 5 teachers from every school in the district will allow students to use their own technology in the classroom.
