Well before iPods and MP3 players became the mainstream media for music, Vinyl Records were once the primary way to fill eardrums of music fans around the country.
At the School of Rock in downtown Naperville, DJ for 95.9 “The River” Mark Zander demonstrated for families the difference in sound between records on a turntable and modern day devices like an iPhone. He even spun a few albums from his private collection, including those from Van Halen, the Beatles, and modern day-artist The Black Keys.
The demo was part of the two-year anniversary celebration for the School of Rock, which offers private lessons for aspiring young musicians from Naperville and surrounding communities.
The event also coincided with National Independent Record Store Day. Zander says albums are starting to make a bit of a comeback.
