The Naperville Police Department has a new man in charge. At a recent press conference, City Manager Doug Krieger announced who will replace Police Chief David Dial after he retires later this month.
“After unanimous support by all involved in the interview process, I am more than pleased to announce my selection of Bob Marshall as Naperville’s next Police Chief,” said Krieger.
Marshall is currently the Assistant City Manager for Naperville. He started his police career with the Will County Sheriff’s Department, and then moved to the Naperville Police Department in 1977. There he served 27 years before retiring at the rank of captain in 2005 to accept the Assistant City Manager position.
“This day is truly a dream come true,” said Marshall. “I guess the saying ‘once a cop, always a cop,’ at least in my case, is an accurate one.”
Chief Dial’s last day in uniform will be Friday, May 18th. That same day, Marshall will be sworn in at 5 p.m.
