Chief Dial’s last day was the first day for his replacement.
At the beginning of the Citizens Appreciate Public Safety, or CAPS Awards, Mayor George Pradel swore in the city’s new police chief- Robert Marshall.
Marshall started his police career with the Will County Sheriff’s Department and then moved to the Naperville Police Department in 1977.
There he served 27 years before retiring at the rank of Captain in 2005 to accept the Assistant City Manager position.
“This is truly a dream come true,” said Marshall. “I gained a great deal of experience in the last six years working as the Assistant City Manager which will benefit me as the police chief.”
Marshall’s first order of business will be to fill personnel holes due to retirement and start negotiations on two union contracts.
