Plans for a hotel along Water Street have resurfaced with a new name.
What was once going to be a Holiday Inn Express will now be a Hotel Indigo, an upscale, boutique establishment, alongside retail, restaurant, and office space, plus more than 500 additional parking spaces.
The developer Marquette Properties is in the process of designing the 160-room hotel, with hopes of beginning to break ground for infrastructure and utility work in January.
“The physical attributes of the building were of a boutique hotel from day one and the architecture and the construction methods were above and beyond the brand standards of a Holiday Inn Express and Suites because it was in a downtown location,” said Jeff Prosapio, the Director of Project Management for Marquette Properties.
The hotel indigo is the world’s first globally-branded boutique hotel and the Naperville location will be the fourth in the Chicago land area and is expected to open in 2015.
