The commissioners voted to endorse the creation of a new Class “V” liquor license that could be given to AMC Showplace Theatre on Route 59.
The theatre company has implemented alcohol sales in other cities around the country successfully by carding every customer regardless of age and allowing only one drink to be purchased per guest when they come to the bar to help avoid underage drinking.
The commission wanted to ensure no alcohol sales would take place before noon and that there was a cap on the number of special events the theatre could hold with the new license.
City council will now vote on the new license early next year.
