Edward-Elmhurst Health recently opened an Immediate Care Center at 1804 North Naper Boulevard. The facility is staffed by two full-time physicians, along with a team of nurses and patient care technicians, who can address health needs that require assistance, but are not severe enough to warrant a trip to the emergency room.
“We can take those smaller injuries, a fracture or a sore throat, those viral infections and upper respiratory infections. We obviously can help the ER because those patients that normally go there can come here and maybe even get a quicker turnaround time,” said Clinical Leader, Melissa Lund.
Offering eight exam rooms with beds, along with an extra room for quick procedures, the facility is set up to handle patients in a timely manner. The staff hopes to get treatment started within ten minutes of arrival.
One additional service, an X-Ray; which can be scheduled for a pre-surgery imaging session, or to help diagnose Scoliosis.
The center is open seven days a week.
