A Naperville Eagle Scout is paving the way for residents to help a local pet shelter.
Zac Cosenza earned his Eagle Scout Badge by selling engraved bricks to raise money for the Naperville Area Humane Society.
Donors selected the size of their brick and their engraved message then Cosenza and his troop installed them into a walkway.
Cosenza and the Humane Society recently revealed the walkway to the community and hope project inspires others.
“I wanted to give back to the Humane Society because that’s where we got our pets from,” said Cosenza. “I also just wanted to volunteer, and get other people to do the same.”
“It is extremely heartwarming to have, especially the young folks that volunteer here and support the organization get involved,” said Angie Wood, Executive Director for the Naperville Area Humane Society. “It’s great to see their energy and enthusiasm and what it means to them to give back to their community.”
The Humane Society plans to continue the program and sell more paving bricks.
