When you print something it usually comes out on a flat piece of paper, but a new printer now available locally is like something out of a Star Trek episode.
The UPS Store in Lisle is one of six stores nationally to feature a 3D printer. UPS is the first company to make 3D printers commercially available.
If you can dream it, you can print it.
To start creating, the printer needs CAD plans. It then reads them and uses a heated build chamber and support materials to create the customer’s designs.
“It’s really great for small business. People can use if for prototypes, and crating things with the logo on it. Architects can use it to build model homes,” said Jim George, Owner of the Lisle UPS Store.
Pricing depends on how big and complicated the designs are.
The Lisle location was chosen from all the UPS stores across the country because it is one of their busiest locations.
