75 applicants from 25 different countries joined in a naturalization ceremony in front of families and friends at Cantigny Park to take the final step in abiding to uphold our country’s laws.
“I have no doubt that each of you take seriously the commitment that you made through that oath for this day forward, and I hope for the rest of us here, I’m hopeful for the rest of us here in the Chicagoland area, that we will embrace their civic responsibilities and collectively we can work to rebuild our democracy,” said Keynote Speaker, Shawn Healy, PhD.
Participants were eager to commit themselves to join “We The People” in pursuit of a more perfect union.
“It’s an honor now to become a U.S. citizen and I’m very proud of this, I’m very proud of this country,” said Alfredo Vargascastllo, new U.S. citizen.
A new start for these new citizens, now united as Americans.
Following the event, many of the new U.S. citizens were encouraged to take the next step by registering to vote as U.S. citizens.
