The Naperville Park District was hard at work making sure Santa’s house is ready for the man in red.
“The process is actually pretty simple. We start with the frame of the Free Speech Pavilion that’s here all year. And we’ve got these panels that we just come in, we set them right up, they fit perfectly, it was designed that way by an architect. So we bring those panels in, we screw it right to the frame of the pavilion,” said Tiffani Picco, Park Specialist II with the Naperville Park District.
The whole building went up in just six hours, with a crew of ten putting it together.
Next comes the work on the inside, which includes a heated waiting area and setting up Santa’s living room where boys and girls have a chance to meet St. Nick from December 2 through the 23.
“It’s just a chance for children to visit with Santa and it’s always free, but you can also purchase a photo with Santa if you’d like. And then we’ve got lots of volunteers who welcome kids and give them something to do while they’re waiting,” said Sue Omanson, Community Development Manager with the Naperville Park District.
This year Santa House will still have special needs nights, pet night and military night.
