The newly renovated Riverwalk Café opens to the public Saturday June 4. The cafe features revamped indoor and outdoor seating for up to 90 people, and a new menu which will feature breakfast, lunch dinner and even beer and wine.
“We’re going to have different type of bottled beer, and six on draft. We’ll have one of each wine being Chardonnay, Cabernet, Moscato, Meritage, Merlot, different varieties of wine,” said Terry Washington, Food and Beverage Operation Manager for the Riverwalk Café.
Ideas for improvements came from a survey that was conducted by the Naperville Park District last year. Other changes include ADA accessible restrooms and a new kitchen area.
The park district thinks the improvements will provide a needed change to the venue.
“It gives them an opportunity to enjoy the Riverwalk. There’s a lot of folks, even today, that have books and like a place to read and this way they can sit down, have a cup of tea, a cup of coffee, and have a place that they can actually enjoy the Riverwalk, while they’re here walking they can also sit down and relax,” said Eric Shutes, Director of Planning for the Naperville Park District.
The Riverwalk Café will be open year round from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and came in under budget at about $519,000.
