June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, and a local group is using a tiny flower to send a big message about fighting the disease.
Take a closer look at this planter and you’ll see a special reminder inside, an idea spearheaded by Rotary Club of Naperville Downtown member Stephanie Penick. She’s launched this colorful campaign for Alzheimer’s and dementia awareness in honor of her mother’s history with the disease.
“They’re terribly awful devastating, mean diseases that impact people and their caregivers and it’s hoping to raise awareness for those and to grow enthusiasm to find a cure,” said Penick.
The Rotary Club of Naperville Downtown has placed planters of forget-me-nots, designed by the growing place, throughout Naperville. The tiny blue flowers can be seen at a number of local businesses around Naperville.
The planters will be around town throughout the month of June.
