A local group of ladies recently celebrated their 120th birthday together.
The Naperville Woman’s Club held a birthday party to celebrate that milestone at their headquarters on Washington Street. But instead of receiving gifts they gave them away, to the tune of $15,000 to local charities.
As a philanthropic organization they support art, education and community services in the Naperville area.
“That represents a lot to us, not just making donation to organizations but also giving back to the Naperville community for 120 years. That equates back to six generations of Naperville women giving back to the community in a variety of ways, so we’re very proud to have that tradition,” explained Julie Cunningham, President of the Naperville Woman’s Club.
Those recognized with a donation included Loaves and Fishes Community Services, Family Shelter Services and the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans.
Longtime members of the Naperville Woman’s Club were also honored for their commitment to the group.
The Naperville Woman’s Club was established in 1897.
