Television personality Ty Pennington fired up the grill and the guests at the Naperville Exchange Club’s 25th annual Ribfest.
Pennington arrived as a spokesperson for Sears to help master the grill and to get to know the crowd.
Dozens of people lined up to take pictures with the well-known former host of Extreme Makeover Home Edition and Trading Spaces carpenter.
“He’s a great guy. He’s done a lot for the community and I’m honored to meet him,” said Naperville resident Louis Aranaga.
Christine Panik traveled from St. Louis for Ribfest and was surprised to see Pennington. She said, “I think he’s a lot cuter in person that’s for sure.”
For Barbara Laschel, it was a dream come true. “I feel like I’m on cloud nine like I just got married or something.”
Pennington appeared onstage to introduce a few of the live bands and also enjoyed plenty of food.
The celebrity says the beauty of Ribfest is that it’s a charity event. “Eat some tasty ribs, grill out, but you’re also doing a great thing and it’s benefiting so many other people so it’s a win-win,” said Pennington.
All proceeds from Ribfest are given to local organizations that work to eliminate child abuse and domestic violence.
