Naperville Walgreens Safe Drug Disposal

At a recent press conference, officials unveiled the first safe medication disposal kiosk located in a Naperville Walgreens.

As part of a national effort to combat prescription drug abuse, Walgreens installed this kiosk in their Washington and 87th Street location, along with three others in DuPage County and 500 across the country.

“I think that this is a demonstration where community, the legislators and corporations work together to achieve a common goal, and that is to head off, or to help relieve the issue of prescription drug abuse in our country,” said Walgreens Regional Vice President for the Chicago Region, John Grant.

Anyone can deposit their old or unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications into the kiosk during Walgreens normal business hours, disposing of the drugs safely and anonymously.

Naperville launched their prescription drug drop box program in 2014, and there is now a box at police headquarters and every fire station.
