The first hearing in the lawsuit filed by the Naperville Township Highway Commissioner against the Township Board of Trustees was recently heard in court.
Stan Wojtasiak is suing the Naperville Township Board of Trustees after they voted to cut more than $540,000 from his budget.
At the initial hearing, Wojtasiak’s lawyer addressed his plans to file for a preliminary injunction in the case, which would allow Wojtasiak to spend money from his original budget of about $2,619,000 while the case is pending.
Wojtasiak’s suit asks for that budget to be approved and find that the reduced budget amount was illegal under Illinois Law.
The court case will continue on June 29.
The board slashed the budget in early may after Wojtasiak voted to reject the city’s proposal for an intergovernmental agreement to allow them to maintain township roads.
