Naperville Students Head to Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Naperville Central’s two senior Drum Majors, Raelyn and Hannah, will be playing in this year’s Macy’s Great American Marching Band at their annual Thanksgiving Day Parade.

“My family always watches the parade every year, it’s one of our Thanksgiving traditions. I had heard about previous Drum Majors from our school going to march in the parade, so I looked into the opportunity and then I told my co-Drum Major Raelyn about it, and then we ended up applying and getting in and now we’re going,” said Hannah Estoll.

With over 250 high school students coming from all over the country to participate, Raelyn and Hannah are two of only a handful of Illinois musicians that were selected.

And while you can see them perform on Thursday, they will begin practicing with the band several days earlier.

“I’m going to fly out to New York on Saturday and spend all week rehearsing long days and playing with really great people from all around the country,” said Raelyn Erwin.

Raelyn will be playing the cymbals and Hannah the trumpet.

You can view the parade beginning at 9 a.m. Thanksgiving morning on NBC.
