The school was one of two in the nation to be named Gold recipients by the Grammy Foundation.
In a celebration ceremony students and staff gladly accepted their award – with parents, city officials and school board members all cheering them on.
“Wow, I mean that’s all I can say this is the culmination of a lot of hard work from our students, our staff, and our parent community. It’s just amazing for us, only two high schools in the nation to receive that and we are just very thankful for that and it just goes to show the work our awesome staff does with our super kids,” said Metea Valley’s Principal, Dr. Darrell Ecohls.
The crowd also got a sampling of sounds from Metea’s musical ensembles.
This was the first Grammy in the schools 7-year history.
Metea’s award makes 16 Grammys in District 204.
