Finding the best route around Naperville just got a little easier thanks to a new partnership.
The city of Naperville has joined forces with Waze to share traffic and street closure information around our town with the navigation app’s users through the connected citizens program.
“We have a lot of special events happening and street closures due to those special events so it just gives the users of Waze the information that they need to reroute for that specific time or day,” said Linda LaCloche, Communications Manager for the City of Naperville.
Users can sign up for the app, then dock it in their car like a GPS. Once launched, users become a source of information themselves, passively sending along real-time traffic data to help find the fastest route possible. Passengers can also actively feed the system road activity, alerting users to hazards, accidents or traffic jams in their path.
Naperville and Evanston are the first two cities in Illinois to join the program.
