Jake Owen to Headline Ribfest
Jake Owen is the second confirmed headliner for Naperville’s 2018 Ribfest. Owen and country music star Chris Janson are booked for performances on Friday July 6. Tickets are on sale now at www.ribfest.net.
Three apartments have been declared uninhabitable after an apartment fire yesterday morning in the 1500 block of Fairway Drive. Naperville Firefighters responded to the call after a resident noticed smoke and found a smoldering fire on a third-floor balcony that had extended into the apartment. Four adults and two children were able to leave their apartments before firefighters arrived. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Long-time District 203 teacher Julie Oleszik returned to BeeBe Elementary School last night to launch “All But One,” the third book in “The Fifth Floor” trilogy. Oleszek read from the new installment, discussed the book with attendees and signed copies for some lucky readers.
High School Bowling
With the addition of girls bowling in District 203, some new rivalries hit the lanes for the first time last night. Neuqua Valley headed to Lisle Lanes to take on Naperville Central. The Wildcats continued their strong start to the year thanks to Chloe Long and Shelia Sutfin both rolling games over 200. The RedHawks continued to improve, but Neuqua took the win 2588 to 1896.
And Metea Valley and Naperville North met up at the Fox Bowl in Wheaton for their first ever matchup. The star of the day was Sam Tumallapalli, who rolled a 245 game and a 630 series, both career bests for the Mustang. Metea Valley picked up another early season DVC victory.
