District 203 Discusses New IGA with Park District

The District 203 School Board discussed a new intergovernmental agreement with the Naperville Park District regarding Knoch Park. The agreement will allow the district to make improvements to the softball field and to maintain it to the same standards as the baseball field. This comes after a father of a former Naperville Central softball player brought inequality between the two fields to the board’s attention in June.

5th Avenue on Council’s Agenda Tonight

Naperville City Council will discuss the 5th Avenue Project again at tonight’s public meeting. Development advisors S.B. Friedman have prepared a report that identifies areas the developer, Ryan Companies, needs council input on – including whether or not commuter parking needs to be added and how tall the development should be. The council may also vote to move the project forward to phase 2, baseline concept creation.

Dick Portillo Visits Naperville

Dick Portillo made a stop by Anderson’s Bookshop last night. The founder of Portillo’s restaurants was there for a book signing and Q&A session for his new book “Out of the Dog House.” The autobiography tells the story of how he turned the original Dog House into a national business and a point of Chicagoland pride.

Naperville Students on All State Boys Soccer Team

The Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association recently released the All State Boys Soccer Team. To nobody’s surprise, Naperville North has three members on the list in senior defenseman Colin Iverson, senior goalie Tom Welch, and junior forward Ty Konrad. The Huskies finished the season undefeated and won the 3A state championship for a third consecutive season. Naperville Central senior defenseman Cameron Strang was also named to the All State Team.
