Light Display Spotlights Corey’s Goal:

The Manchester Lights holiday show is back at 1117 Manchester Court for the seventh year – but this time around, they’re shining a light on a greater cause. Besides stringing the Manchester home with 80,000 lights, creator Matt Baker has also illuminated his friend Corey Walgren’s home on 111 Westmoreland Lane with 20,000 more. Walgren died by suicide on January 11, 2017, and has been remembered through Corey’s Goal, a foundation started in his memory to raise awareness of the rights of minors in disciplinary settings and to support Corey’s love of hockey through financial gifting. So this year, Baker is honoring his friend by giving 100 percent of the profits from his annual light show to Corey’s Goal. There’s a donation box at the home on Manchester, and website information at Corey’s home – plus if you tune into 88.5 FM as you stop by, you can hear voiceovers from Corey’s parents, 95.9 The River host Danielle Tufano, Naperville Chamber of Commerce President Nicki Anderson, along with a musical sampling of holiday favorites. The show runs 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and an hour later on Fridays and Saturdays, through January 1.

Sean Hayes Visits Naperville:

Sean Hayes, star of NBC’s Will & Grace, and his husband, composer Scott Icenogle stopped by Anderson’s Bookshop last night for a special signing of their new book “Plum: How the Sugarplum Fairy Got Her Wings.” It’s the first children’s picture book for both. Fans were on hand to meet the authors, get their books signed, and snap some photos.

Mouth Painter Exhibit:

Fine art fans have just a week left to see an exhibition from Naperville resident Mariam Paré at North Central College’s Oesterle Library Gallery. The incredible paintings become even more impressive when you learn that Paré painted all of them with her mouth. She became a survivor of gun violence at the age of 20, rendering her quadriplegic. Paré’s work explores her own experiences with paralysis and portrays other victims of gun violence, among other topics. Paré is a member of the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists and her exhibit will stay up through December 5

All Region NCAA Soccer Teams:

The all region NCAA soccer teams were released this week and North Central College had a pair of honorees named to the list. Alexis Flores was named to the men’s third team after scoring 11 goals and five assists; he was also first team all CCIW.

Lexi Dimovski made history by becoming the first NCC Women’s player to make the all region team. The third team pick also earned first team all conference after scoring nine goals to go with three assists.
