Water University Grand Opening

Last night Nalco Water held its grand opening of the new Water University. The company plans to use the facility located on Ecolab’s Nalco Water campus on Diehl road to train companies to recycle and use less water as the world’s demand for water grows. Nalco Water officials say the world demand for fresh water will exceed supply by 2030. Their goal is to partner with corporations to conserve 300 billion gallons of water annually by 2030.

Robbery Suspects Charged

Naperville police arrested two men accused of robbing a 14-year-old boy in the 600 block of South Route 59 in Naperville on August 21. Nineteen-year-old Craig Garner of LaSalle and 20-year-old Jalen Martinez of Naperville are each charged with aggravated robbery. Police say the two displayed a semi-automatic handgun and stole a handbag containing electronics from the boy during the incident. Police arrested Martinez on September 11 and Garner on October 20.

Equal Means Equal

The League of Women Voters Naperville and Will County NOW are hosting a screening of the documentary ‘Equal Means Equal’ tomorrow night from 7 to 9 at the Naperville Municipal Center. After the movie there will be a panelist Q&A with the executive vice president of the National Organization for Women and the president of Illinois NOW.

High School Soccer Sectional Semi Finals

The boys soccer sectional semi finals will be held tonight at Naperville North. In the first game, the top seed and defending state champion Huskies host Metea Valley. North won the Lockport regional on Friday night over the Porters in a 4-0-shutout. Metea erased a two-goal halftime deficit by scoring three goals in the second half. The game winner came from Jaylen Brooks. It was the first regional championship for the Mustangs since 2012.

The second game will feature Naperville Central taking on Plainfield Central. The Redhawks erased last season’s disappointing loss in the regionals by defeating Oswego East, two to nothing in Saturday’s regional final. The two winning teams will meet in the sectional championship on Friday night at Naperville North.
