New Verizon Antenna:
The Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously to approve the addition of a Verizon Wireless antenna to the top of the Main Street Promenade located at 55 S. Main Street. City staff and the commission were in support of the new antenna due to its low visual impact. It will only extend an additional seven feet beyond the 60-foot roof of the building, and will only be visible from a distance. The proposed antenna still must pass City Council’s final approval.
Car Wash Coming:
A new car wash will be coming to Ogden Avenue. Wash-U got the okay from council on Tuesday night to set up shop at 1150 E. Ogden. Owners touted their business, saying it reduces idling time, as it uses a dual conveyor belt system to pull cars through the wash, and reclaims and reuses 50 to 80 percent of the water in the washing cycle. While some council members worried that a car wash might deter other businesses from coming to that area, a corridor they’ve been working to build up, others were excited to bring new life to the area. Ultimately the zoning request passed, 6-3.
Yesterday the Naperville Park District’s 95th Street Center was home to some gooey concoctions, as three to five year olds gathered for some science magic. The folks from Cool Science stopped by to show the kids how learning can be both fun…and a little messy…through creations like colorful “ghost tears” and “Franken-Slime” monsters. Keep an eye out on the Park District’s schedule for future classes.
