Park District Meeting
At last night’s Naperville Park District Board Meeting, the board of commissioners voted unanimously to approve the sale of $11.5 million of bonds to help fund the proposed Southwest Community Park. The board held a public forum in August to discuss the potential sale of the bonds, where no speakers came forward. Construction on Phase 1 of the 33-acre park is expected to begin in the summer of 2019.
Witches Night Out
Witches were casting spells last night at Naper Settlement for the second annual Witches Night Out Naperville. The Naperville Woman’s Club fundraiser sold out to 950 guests, which supports a variety of charities for women in need. This year a full costume contest was held along with a special witches line dance lesson that made for some wicked fun. Loaves & Fishes also collected canned good donations.
This weekend you can check out pumpkins that are a little out of the ordinary. The Morton Arboretum is holding its eighth annual glass pumpkin patch, where visitors can watch artists demonstrate glass blowing techniques, shop and browse almost 7,000 unique pumpkins, and meet with the artists who create them. The glass pumpkin patch is free with admission to the arboretum and you can check it out from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
