Old Nichols Addition to be Demolished
At last night’s meeting, the Naperville Historic Preservation Commission gave the go-ahead for a teardown of the 1962 addition of the Old Nichols Library. A representative of the developer said the demolition would be a first step for their planning and design. The commission approved the change unanimously; with some saying the addition doesn’t contribute to the historical reverence of the building.
Matthew Lange Vigil
This Saturday at noon a vigil will be held at Scullen Middle School in remembrance of Matthew Lange. The 37-year-old Oswego man was fatally shot in his car in the Scullen parking lot on January 27 last year. The case is still unsolved, and a $50,000 reward is offered for information leading to an arrest.
NPD at Feed My Starving Children
Last night some Naperville police officers were packing… food for the hungry. They joined feed other Naperville Police Department staff and their families at Feed My Starving Children in Aurora. The non-profit allows groups to come together and hand pack meals to be sent to malnourished children around the world. Every month a different section of the police force comes to Feed My Starving children to take part.
High School Basketball
Metea Valley Boys Basketball travels to Naperville North tonight for a prime time DVC matchup. The Huskies remain in first place atop the conference standings but need the win to keep pace with Wheaton Warrenville South. Metea Valley enters as game winners of five of the last seven games. The Mustangs hope to pull off the upset at 7:30. The game can be seen live on the NCTV17 and nctv17.com.
