Suspicious Man with Possible Gun at Park:

Naperville police are looking for a man that witnesses say may have pointed a gun at kids playing at Country Lakes Park. The incident took place on Tuesday, September 18, around 5:30 p.m. at the park located at 736 Genesee Drive. The suspect was gone by the time police arrived, but is described as a white male, either bald or with very short hair, wearing a gray t-shirt and sweatpants and white gym shoes. Police say he also had no facial hair, and a number of small tattoos on his face and arms. He’s said to have left the scene in a small white car with a noisy muffler. Anyone with information about this suspect or the incident should contact the Naperville Police Department’s Investigations Division at 630-420-6666.

Bicycle Thief Sought:

Police are also asking for the public’s help in identifying an individual suspected of stealing bicycles from Naperville’s train stations. On July 22 and August 21, two bikes that were secured with locks were taken from the downtown Metra station. And on August 10 and 15, more bikes were stolen from the Route 59 train station. The suspect was seen on surveillance video at the downtown station on the days of those incidents, and appeared to be tampering near the area where the bikes were stored. Naperville Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest in this case, you can contact them at 630-420-6006.

Dancing With The Celebrities:

Last night local celebrities took to the dance floor for the Community Career Center’s “Dancing with the Celebrities” fundraiser. There were seven couples in all lighting up the dance floor at Meson Sabika with dances ranging in style from hip-hop to the cha cha. In the end, the judges ruled that Joe Chura and his partner Brianna Miller had the winning moves – and the time of their lives…while the audience split their votes in a tie between Joe and Brianna and Amber Sweda and her partner Luke Malczewski as top dancers. Proceeds from the event will be used by the Community Career Center to help folks build resumes, practice interview skills, and find employment.

High School Golf:

With the Dupage Valley Conference golf tournament less than a week away, Naperville North hosted Naperville Central at Springbrook to pick up some late season conference championship points. Naperville Central senior Tyler Schettek shot an even par 36 for the best score of the day, leading the RedHawks to victory by the slimmest of margins, 159 to 160. Both the boys and girls DVC Championships will be held next Tuesday.
