Paddington Avenue Fire

 A fire in the 1800 block of Paddington Avenue around 6:45 last night has forced a Naperville family from their home. Firefighters say the fire started in the home’s back bedroom and was quickly extinguished. No one was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Community Health Fair

The Islamic Center of Naperville and the Community United Methodist Church are partnering up for a community health fair this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The two are hoping to spread the word about the center’s free health clinic to people outside the Muslim community who might need health care but cannot afford it. The free event will be held at the Islamic Center and includes flu shots, nutrition counseling and blood sugar screenings.

Good McDeeds

The Naperville Police Department is partnering up with McDonalds for their “Good McDeeds” program. Officers will be on the lookout over the next few weeks to reward citizens they see obeying safety rules and doing the right thing with free Happy Meal vouchers.

High School Volleyball

The 11th annual Wheaton Classic girls volleyball tournament is underway. Benet Academy got off to a great start, winning its first two matches over Wheaton Warrenville South and Harvest Christian in two sets, the Redwings finished as the runners up a year ago. Waubonsie Valley also advanced to the gold championship bracket thanks to a pair of two set wins over Hinsdale Central and Plainfield North. Metea Valley and Naperville Central went 1-1 and will play in the silver bracket, while Neuqua Valley plays in the bronze bracket.
