Naper Settlement Announcement

Naper Settlement is receiving a total of one million dollars in donations from the Tellabs Foundation and the Birck Family. Announced this morning, the funds will go toward a brand new Heritage Gateway, which will be located between the Pre-Emption House and the chapel. The project will include a new welcome center and Innovation Hall for more interactive displays detailing Naperville’s history into the 21st century.

Closings Around Town

The 95th Street Library will be closed for renovations today through Saturday. The library will reopen on Sunday, September 17 from 1 – 9 p.m. You can visit Naper Boulevard Library or Nichols Library until the 95th Street Library reopens.

The DuPage Children’s Museum will also be closed through this Friday for annual maintenance. The museum will reopen Saturday, September 16.

Klein Court Date Moved

Today’s scheduled court appearance for Edward Klein, the 79-year-old Wisconsin man charged with shooting an Amtrak conductor in Naperville on May 16, was postponed due to attorney scheduling. Klein’s next scheduled court date is September 19.

High School Golf

Yesterday was a perfect day for a pair of golf meets. On the boys side, Waubonsie Valley and Benet Academy took part in a tri-meet with Marmion Academy at Cress Creek Country Club. The Cadets of Marmion took the team win with a score of 172, while Waubonsie finished in 2nd, seven strokes behind.

Metea Valley visited Waubonsie Valley for a girls golf dual at Springbrook. The Warriors protected their home course with a 177 to 200 team win behind a 40 from Kerrigan Boose and a 41 from Arushi Singh.
