Moser Tower Task Force:

A task force will now lend a hand in deciding the fate of Moser Tower. The 17-year-old structure that houses the Millennium Carillon needs up to $3.8 million in repairs, creating a debate about whether to save the structure or tear it down. Public outreach and new solutions proposed by contractors prompted the Riverwalk Commission to suggest that the mayor appoint nine or 10 members to a task force to consider all the options, collect information, and present their findings to the Riverwalk Commission. With this new development, the decision on the tower will now likely not happen until early next year.

Rabid Bats:

The Naperville Police Department is warning residents that two bats in our area have recently tested positive for rabies. Both were little brown bats: one removed from a yard on Ambleside Circle, the other from a residence on North Loomis. Police advise that if you do find a bat in your home or business, do not touch it – call either Naperville Animal Care & Control, or the police department.

DoGOOD Campaign:

Giving DuPage has kicked off its biggest service initiative yet, asking community members to “do good” for an entire year. DoGOOD DuPage calls for 150,000 people all across the county to volunteer and donate, then share their stories on Ways to help are broken into four categories: volunteering, donating items, creating awareness, or celebrating volunteers.

New Hockey Team:

The start of a new high school sports season often brings change and this year is no exception. The Waubonsie Warriors hockey team, which had previously played using students of Waubonsie Valley and Metea Valley, combined with players from Oswego and Oswego East. This summer the AHAI Committee approved the Oswego schools to create their own combined team beginning this fall. Waubonsie will continue to play as members of the Illinois West Conference and will compete in the Combined Division, where the Warriors won the Blackhawk Cup in 2014.
