45 firefighters responded to a two-home fire that erupted in the 500 block of Springhill Circle yesterday evening. The fire began in the garage of one house and spread to the house next door. Firefighters were able to extinguish the main body of the fire within 45 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no one was injured.
The Naperville Police Department is investigating an alleged battery that took place at about 12:30 a.m. on Monday, July 31 in Downtown Naperville. According to a Facebook post on the police department’s page, the incident took place in the 0-100 block of Jefferson Avenue and was reported to police the next day. Investigators are following up on leads and will release more information when the investigation is complete.
Illinois Prairie Path Plans
Trail users, take note. Today at 4 p.m. at Metea Valley High School, DuPage County will talk about plans to create an important connection for those who use the Illinois Prairie Path. The county plans to connect the path’s Aurora Branch with the Batavia Spur and DuPage Technology Corridor along Eola Road, creating a bike and pedestrian-friendly trailway. The project will include widening the Eola Road bridge over Interstate 88 and then creating the necessary trail connections.
Illinois PGA Championship Qualifiers
Naperville has three men’s golfers who qualified for the Illinois PGA Championship next Monday. Jack Vercautren, a senior at Nequa Valley and Tommy Dunsire, a senior at Naperville Central both qualified in Homewood finishing even with par. Alex Bassetto, a 2016 Benet Graduate, shot one over par in Deerfield to send him to the event. The 68th Illinois Open is a fifty-four hole stroke play event with 262 golfers teeing off Monday in Glenview and concluding on Wednesday.
