Klein in Court

Edward Klein, the Wisconsin man charged with shooting Amtrak Conductor Michael Case in Naperville on May 16, appeared in court this morning. Attorneys for Klein discussed whether or not he is fit to stand trail due to his mental health. A judge postponed the decision, giving officials more time to research his mental health history and medical documents. Klein will next appear in court on August 7.

Naperville City Swim Meet

The Naperville City Swim Meet was held at Neuqua Valley over the weekend, celebrating its 50th anniversary. Many high school swimmers made their marks on Friday night, with Maplebrook II swimmer Alexa Puccini breaking the 50-yard freestyle record in the first event of the meet with a time of 23.82 seconds. The Naperville Central sophomore also won the 50 fly. The Tall Grass Lightning stole the show on Friday night, thanks to wins from Waubonsie Valley grad Hannah Hunt in the 100 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke. Tallgrass also got help from the boys as Jared Simpson won the 100 medley and set a pool record in the 100 backstroke. On day two, the Saybrook Sharks showed off their depth in the 14 and under age groups, taking the lead after the morning session and hanging on to win the City Meet for the second consecutive year. Tallgrass finished second with Cress Creek Country Club finishing third. Congratulations to all the swimmers on an incredible swim meet.
