JB Pritzker in Naperville
This morning, a candidate vying to be Illinois’ next governor made a stop into town for a conversation about entrepreneurs. JB Pritzker met with a dozen women business leaders for a roundtable discussion at Anderson’s Bookshop. They discussed how state government can support women in their efforts to create jobs, particularly in DuPage County. Voters will decide whether or not Pritzker, the democratic nominee, will replace current governor and republican Bruce Rauner, during the general election on November 6.
Ribfest ATM Burglary
A large amount of cash was stolen from ATM machines used at Naperville’s Ribfest. The Naperville Police Department report that the burglary occurred on July 7 at a mobile home parked just outside of Ribfest. The victims of the theft were collecting the festival’s ATM machines at the end of the its final night, when the suspect or suspects broke into the mobile home and stole a large amount of money. Naperville Crime Stoppers is offering an award of up to $1,000 for any information leading to the arrest of those involved in the burglary. Crime Stoppers can be reached at 630 .
Sliders Softball League
The past two days has been all softball with the Naperville Park District Sliders Softball League. On Wednesday, the fifth and sixth grade division saw Colorado State playing Florida. Colorado State jumped out to the early lead before Florida got back into the game with some late runs. The Rams were able to hang on for the 7-5 championship victory.
Later in the night, Michigan took on the undefeated LSU girls in the seventh through ninth grade championship. Michigan hung close with a pair of runs in the early going, but LSU continued to display the offensive firepower that carried the team to a perfect record. The Tigers finish the year 11 and 0 after an 18-3 win and a city championship.
Last night, Texas A&M and Tennessee played for the third and fourth grade championship. Texas A&M scored big runs early before Tennessee chipped away at the lead. The A&M offense was too much to handle as the team finishes the season with a 10-3 win over Tennessee. Congratulations to all the girls on a great season!
