Naperville Notable Takes Honor Flight:
Naperville notable Herb Nadelhoffer took the trip of a lifetime yesterday, boarding an Honor Flight to visit war memorials in our nation’s capital. The trip was made possible through the non-profit which aims to pay tribute to our nations senior war veterans by giving them the chance to view the monuments erected in their honor. Herb spent two years In the Army, most of that spent working in counter intelligence. After a day of remembrance, the former Army Corporal returned to Midway Airport where he was welcomed back with a spirit of patriotism and the love of his community.
Legislator Town Hall:
Last night, Representative Grant Wehrli joined Illinois State Senator Michael Connelly for a town hall forum at the Municipal Center. Dozens of residents, including some in opposition to the two Republicans, were there to listen to the pair’s presentation on a legislative update, including information about the state budget. Connelly and Wehrli answered questions and discussed topics like gun reform, pensions, and property taxes with the audience. If you missed the town hall you can meet up with Connelly at an upcoming “Coffee and a Conversation” with the Senator on Wednesday, July 18 at 8 a.m. at the Naperville Einstein Bagels.
Last night the North America Pizza & Culinary Academy held their grand opening party, complete with a traditional Italian blessing of the pizza oven. Father James Presta said some prayers both in English and Italian, asking that the food from the ovens warms the hearts of those who eat it and brings people together in fellowship and love. The new academy, located in Lisle, is only the second of its kind in the country, and was founded by Anthony Iannone and Leo Spizzirri. It’s a pizza school that also includes a full culinary kitchen, production kitchen, and even a showroom with specialty goods available for purchase. There’s a full certification program, along with plenty of classes on both Italian and other types of cuisine for home cooks.
