Durkin at NACC

The Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce hosted House Minority Leader Jim Durkin as the keynote speaker for their Legislative Forum yesterday. Speaker Durkin discussed Illinois’ new budget and shared his take on the recent special legislative session. Those in attendance also had the chance to ask questions.

College Safety Class

The Naperville Police Department has announced a special class for college-bound freshmen and their parents to better prepare them for “move-in” day. Taking place at the Naperville Police Department on Wednesday, July 26 at 7 p.m., the class will focus on students’ personal safety, as well as pertinent laws related to drugs and alcohol. No registration is required for this free class.

Alive Sponsor

SAP Fieldglass is the new sponsor for Alive Teen Initiative programs at the Alive Center here in Naperville. The programs encourage students to pursue education and careers in the STEM field. The funds will also go toward the Alive Teen-Led Teen-Drive clubs, programs and events. SAP Fieldglass will also conduct workshops at the center.

Phil Lawler Tournament

Benet Academy Baseball hosted Naperville Central in their opening games of the Phil Lawler Summer State Tournament. The Redhawks used a seven run 2nd inning to power them to a 7-1 victory. A few walks, an RBI single, and a 3-run double sparked the big inning. Alec Nuckols was strong on the mound allowing one unearned run over six innings while the defense made some big plays as well. 109 schools are competing in the tournament, which goes until July 21.
