Narcan Saves 500 Lives

The DuPage Narcan Program marked a milestone save. On June 23 Wheaton Police Officer Lundy saved the 500th life using Narcan. The nasal spray blocks the effects of opioids and reverses an overdose, and was first administered by the program in 2014. There are now 4,601 individuals trained by the DNP to use Narcan in order to reverse an overdose.

 

Fatal Motorcycle Crash

The Naperville Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred Friday evening. Police and fire crews responded to Aurora Avenue and Fort Hill Drive around 10:40 p.m. where a Kawasaki motorcycle had collided with a Honda Civic. The driver and passenger of the motorcycle were pronounced dead at the scene. The initial investigation indicated the motorcycle was travelling westbound on Aurora approaching Fort Hill, when the Honda Civic heading eastbound on Aurora turned in front of it. Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to contact the Naperville police’s traffic unit at (630) 420-8833.

 

Latex Paint Recycling

The DuPage County Latex Paint Program has reopened for the season. The free program will recycle your unwanted water-based paint that is no more that ten years old, hasn’t been frozen, and hasn’t been mixed with other products. Paint that is usable is filtered, remixed, and then offered to nonprofits and locals free of cost. You can drop off your paint from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Woodridge Greene Valley Wastewater Treatment Facility now through August 4.

 

Oscar Meyer Wienermobile

One of the famous Oscar Meyer Wienermobile set up shop yesterday in front of Mariano’s in Naperville. The visit came along with free hot dogs, games and of course, plenty of photo ops to relish. The 27-foot Wienermobile is one of only six traveling the country.

 

Boccia Tournament

For the second consecutive year, Naperville hosted the National Boccia Tournament over the weekend. From Thursday through Saturday, hundreds of athletes and spectators enjoyed the camaraderie and competition at the Fort Hill Activity Center and the neighboring Players Indoor Sports Complex. Boccia is a sport where the athletes try to get their ball as close to the white ball, known as the jack, in order to score points. The sport is part of the Paralympics.
