95th Street/Rt. 59 Accident

A major accident occurred in Naperville around 2:15 a.m. at the intersection of Route 59 and 95th Street. Mauro Apostoli was seriously injured while traveling north on Route 59 on a motorcycle. He crashed into the rear of a truck and was taken to Edward Hospital. He was charged with one count of driving under the influence of alcohol. The intersection was closed until roughly 8 a.m. this morning when all lanes were reopened for travel.

Heat Advisory

The National Weather Service is issuing an excessive heat warning for the area. Temperatures are expected to reach highs in the mid 90s and lows near 80 degrees, along with high humidity. Weather that hot can cause heat illnesses, especially in the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions. Drinking plenty of fluids and staying out of the sun for prolonged periods are the easiest ways to stay safe. The alert also advised against leaving young children and dogs in unattended vehicles under any circumstances, but especially in extreme heat, as the interior of the car can quickly reach lethal temperatures.
