Davis to Liquor Commission
Pam Davis could become the newest member of the Naperville Liquor Commission. The recently retired President and CEO of Edward Hospital was invited to serve by Mayor Chirico after the council approved adding two seats to the board. Davis is expected to be appointed to the new role at the commission’s July 6 meeting, with a ninth member being added in the following months.
Schmaltz Pays it Forward
Schmaltz Delicatessen used a bad situation for good, raising over $1,000 for a local non-profit. Yesterday evening people gathered to show support after the restaurant was vandalized on Sunday, in what is now being investigated as a hate crime. A total of $1,225 dollars was raised, which Schmaltz staff donated to UCARE, which aims to counter hate through education.
Last night the DuPage Children’s Museum unveiled their latest exhibit AWEsome Water. As the third and final piece of the AWEsome Energy exhibit, the new installation combines with AWEsome Air and Electricity to let kids explore how their actions affect the world and the energy sources around them. AWEsome Water includes a giant waterwheel, a bubble chamber and a stream table.
Little League Championships
The Naperville Little League Championship games are set after last night’s semi-finals. The Illinois Cement Company hung on to defeat Compass Mortgage 7 to 5 to earn a spot in the Supreme Championship. The Cyclones will take on Thrivent Financial, who powered its way past Jim Wagner Plumbing to make it to the final. In the Majors semi-finals, Frost Gelato edged out Platinum Partners Realtors, scoring the go ahead runs in the top of the 6th. Also making the Majors Final is Judd Kendall VFW. The Rampage outlasted Partners for Achievement in a high scoring game, securing the win with an incredible diving catch for the final out. The Supreme Championship will be played tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Nike Park, followed by the Majors Championship at 4:30 p.m. You can view the Supreme Championship right here on NCTV17, Sunday night at 7 p.m. and the Majors Championship Monday night at 7 p.m.
