Shooting Victim Update
Michael Case, the 45-year-old Amtrak Conductor who was shot at the Naperville Metra station in May is expected to make a full recovery. At a press conference yesterday, his wife, Sara Case, and Dr. David Piazza both spoke about his condition, noting he should eventually be able to return to work, and may be able to skip one major operation. Case remains in serious but stable condition at Edward Hospital.
District 203 Budget
Last night, the District 203 Board of Education approved their fiscal year 2018 budget. The district expects to have over $275 million in revenue, and nearly $278 million in expenditures. However, this total for expenditures also includes paying off the district’s 2008 bonds to the tune of nearly $9.5 million.
360 Youth Services is looking for a new CEO as Katy Leclair, who has been at the helm of the organization for two years, is stepping down. Leclair plans to spend more time with her family and return to her previous role as COO of the Greater Joliet Area YMCA. Current board Vice President Alex Harris will serve as interim CEO.
NNHS Bass Fishing
Last weekend the Bass Fishing State Championships were finally completed after weeks of weather cancellations. It was worth the wait for Naperville North as the DVC Champs finished in 9th place as a team. The Huskies trio of Mitch and Ty Konrad and Ian Campagna caught five bass over the two days at a combined weight of 7 pounds, 11 ounces, securing the top ten finish. Buffalo Grove became the first team from Northern Illinois to win the state championship, with 9 bass caught at a weight of 13 pounds, 7 ounces.
