Ed Asner in Naperville

Legendary actor Ed Asner is coming to Naperville this summer! Center Stage Theater will welcome Asner for a special weekend performance of the political comedy “God Help Us!” Asner will play the role of a wise but wildly funny God, confronting a liberal and conservative who have a romantic history. The play will include a local supporting cast of Kandiss Hernandez, Stuart Vance, Karen Coleman and others. The show will run August 24-26 and tickets are available on Center Stage Theater’s website.

District 203 Assessment

Last night, the District 203 board reviewed the 2018 end of the year academic assessment. Across almost all grade levels and specific student groups, improved and overall outstanding achievement was shown in mathematics, reading, and writing. The assessment also included a look at PSAT scores for ninth and tenth graders. Typical District 203 tenth graders performed in the national 81st percentile rank, which was noted by the board to be a tremendous achievement.

Park District Master Plan

The Naperville Park District has released a full draft of its 2018 Master Plan. The plan points to the growing need for indoor aquatics, shrinking supply of open space, and changing demographics as some of the park district’s challenges going forward. The public is encouraged to view the master plan and give their feedback on the park district’s website through July 2.

Baseball All-State Members

The Illinois High School Baseball Association released its All-State members this week. The only sophomore on the Class 4A list is Metea Valley shortstop Cade Sullivan. The young Mustang was tops in the area with an outstanding .477 batting average to go along with 14 doubles and 37 RBI’s. Also making the 4A All-State list is the Naperville Sports Weekly male athlete of the year, Ryan Wheeler. The Neuqua Valley program leader in hits and career batting average, Wheeler helped the Wildcats to a 31 and 4 record including the game winning hit in the regional championship game against Yorkville. Congratulations to both players on a great season.
