Emergency Preparedness App:

The Will County Emergency Management Agency has launched the “Ready Will County” app, designed to help residents be better prepared in case of an emergency. Users can create individual and family emergency plans, and be notified when disasters strike. Maps can also be enabled to provide information on road closures, shelter options, and police and fire station locations. Search “Ready Will County” in your app store to download.

Kite Festival:

There was some high-flying fun yesterday at the 11th annual Frontier Kite Fly Festival, held at the Frontier Sports Complex. The event was sponsored by the Naperville Moms Network, along with the Naperville Park District, and featured both regular flying pros from Chicago Kite, along with some smaller but just as enthusiastic participants from around town.

Benet Takes on Nazareth:

Two of our local baseball teams were in action Saturday hoping to move one step closer to the state finals. The Benet Redwings hosted Nazareth in a matchup between East Suburban Catholic Conference rivals. After getting stellar pitching all game long, the Redwings took control in the third inning, driving in five runs. Benet put the game away behind a two run home run and a triple from senior Marty Dosen, as the Redwings won their first sectional championship since 1989 after an 11-1 victory. Benet plays St. Viator today at 4 p.m. with a trip to state on the line.

Wildcats Win:

Neuqua Valley only needs to go back to 2013 to remember its last sectional title, but the Wildcats needed to get past Plainfield North, who eliminated them last season. Despite falling behind 1-0 early, Neuqua battled back thanks to timely hitting and strong defense, pulling ahead with a 5 -1 lead. That was enough for Wildcats pitcher Justin Hicks, who picked up the 5-3 victory, sending Neuqua into the supersectionals. It was the 35th win of the season for the Wildcats, which ties a program record. They play St. Laurence tonight at 7:30pm at Standard Bank Stadium in Crestwood.
