Yesterday veterans were honored at Naperville’s Memorial Day Parade. All branches of the military were honored, including those currently serving and those who have fallen. The parade featured live patriotic music, floats, and even a fly over from the Lima Lima Flight Team.

State Tennis Tournament
It was a big weekend for Naperville Sports, starting with the state
boys tennis tournament. In class 1A, Benet Academy had its best ever finish at the state meet, bringing home the third place trophy thanks to a 6th place finish from senior Patrick McGuigan and a 4th place finish from Patrick’s freshman brother Danny and his doubles partner Casey Schroeder. In 2A Naperville Central and New Trier battled for the top spot all weekend long. Redhawks junior Ryan Roegner brought home the third place medal to put Central on the brink of program history. Then Bill Zhang and Martin Matov defeated the New Trier doubles team in the consolation championship, to secure the first ever state tennis championship for Naperville Central.
North Central Championships
Turning to the collegiate ranks, North Central College pole vaulter Luke Winder won his 6th national championship at the D-III outdoor meet this weekend. The junior is the first pole vaulter and just the third Division III athlete to ever win six individual championships. North Central finished 11th as a team.
North Central baseball did not advance to the championship of the College World Series, but still had a successful weekend. The Cardinals went 2 and 2 over the weekend and finished in the final four, before being eliminated by California-Lutheran on Sunday night. The two wins were the first ever for NCC in the College World Series.
Congratulations to all of the teams for a historic weekend.
