Mental Evaluation Ordered
Edward Klein, the Wisconsin man charged with shooting an Amtrak conductor in Naperville on May 16, has been ordered to undergo a mental fitness evaluation by a DuPage County Judge. Klein is charged with aggravated battery and attempted murder of Michael Case, who currently remains in serious condition at Edward Hospital. Klein is being held on $1.5 million bail and will next appear in court on June 28.
A 13-year-old Naperville girl is headed out this weekend to achieve a goal no other girl her age has done before. Lucy Westlake and her father, Rodney, are attempting to climb the highest point in each of the 50 states, and this weekend they’re tackling Denali, the tallest mountain in Alaska. If she reaches the top she’ll be the youngest female her age to reach the highest point in all 50 states.
Memorial Day Weekend
Today kicks off Memorial Day weekend! Naperville will be celebrating with their Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 29. Ceremonies begin at 7:45 a.m. at City hall, with the parade stepping off at 10:30 a.m.. If you can’t make it out, you can catch all the action live on TV or at NCTV17.com.
College World Series
North Central College baseball is heading to the Division III College World Series for the second time in school history. The Cardinals advanced to the final 8 for the first time since 1987, after defeating Birmingham Southern in the regional championship last weekend. The North Central offense is anchored by first team All Americans, Nick Sotiros and Michael Mateja. NCC begins tournament play this afternoon at 4:30 against the University of Massachusetts-Boston.
