Outdoor Liquor Sales
Some of your favorite downtown Naperville restaurants may soon be able to serve alcohol outside. At yesterday’s Liquor Commission meeting, the group approved an ordinance that would allow qualifying restaurants to serve liquor outdoors on city-owned sidewalks. This now goes to City Council for final approval. If passed it will sunset after one year and need Council review once again.
Chat with the Chief
Tomorrow, Naperville Police Chief Bob Marshall will be hosting another session of “Chat with the Chief.” Taking place from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Panera Bread at 1191 E. Ogden Avenue, the event is an informal meet and greet where residents can speak one-on-one with Chief Marshall and members of his senior staff. No formal presentation will be given and everyone is welcome to stop by for a chat.
Ninjas in Naperville
Yesterday Ninjas took over Elmwood Elementary School. Modern Tarzan and Travis Brewer, who have both appeared on the show “American Ninja Warrior,” stopped by the school to promote healthy living with their sponsor, health food company Sunwarrior. The duo performed tricks, taught the kids to ninja roll and answered questions.
Metea Badminton Sectional
Metea Valley hosted the girls badminton sectional last night, looking to repeat as sectional champions. The Mustangs would get help from their doubles pairing of Nitya Nagarajan and Allison Yu who won the doubles sectional over Naperville Central’s Joyce and Kathy Zheng. In the singles championship, Shalu Monoharan of Waubonsie Valley won the sectional by knocking off Melissa Chen of Naperville Central in the title match. Despite having no individual champions, Naperville Central won the sectional plaque by a single point over Metea Valley. Defending state champion Neuqua Valley won its own sectional championship last night, as did DVC champion Naperville North.
