Angel Garden Luminary at Edward Preview

The SHARE support group will host its first luminary event tomorrow for those who have experienced the loss of a child through miscarriage, stillbirth, or early infant death. The ceremony will take place in the Angel Garden at Edward Hospital and is adults only to respect the emotional nature of the event. The luminary begins at 7:30 p.m. and guests are invited to share as the candles are lit. The following day is Bereaved Mother’s Day for those grieving the loss of a baby.

National Day of Prayer

Yesterday, Naperville celebrated National Day of Prayer. The DuPage County celebration was observed in the Municipal Center, with around 100 people in attendance to pray for different areas of our country. Musical performances and readings from scripture also were incorporated into the service. The theme of this year’s Day of Prayer was unity.

Naperville Girls Badminton Sectionals

It was a busy night for the area’s badminton teams as they battled for the top spot at sectionals. Waubonsie Valley traveled to Hinsdale Central and Freshman Sonu Manoharan made a name for herself, beating Hinsdale Central’s Cindy Tang in straight sets for the title. Waubonsie finished fourth as a team.

Naperville North hosted their own sectional and took first place in singles with Bhaavya Manikanda. And Huskies Taylor Zhou and Clara Duon won doubles, helping the team to the sectional title.

Naperville Central, another sectional host, also nabbed a first place. Sisters Joyce and Kathy Zheng won the doubles bracket!

Finally, Gowri Salem from Neuqua Valley grabbed first at the Wildcat sectional along with doubles teammates Joyce Chen and Helen Zhao. The state competition is next weekend at Eastern Illinois University.
