MVHS at WVHS
Despite the wind and cold yesterday afternoon, we had a pair of baseball games that came down to the last out. Metea Valley traveled to Waubonsie Valley in a battle of two district rivals. The host Warriors jumped out to a big lead with five runs in the first inning. But the Mustangs fought back all game long, pulling within one run behind a Nick Heger two run single in the 6th. Last chance for Metea in the 7th, but Zack Laws struck out Devin Meyers in relief and the Warriors hang on for a 7-6 win.
Benet Academy welcomed Glenbard West for a non conference matchup. The Hilltoppers led the pitching dual 1-0 going into the final inning, but the Redwings got a rally going with their backs against the wall. With one out, Brandon Gorz doubled home Aaron Staley to tie the game at one. Jack Schneider then ended the game with a bloop single to left center. Redwings get the walk off win, 2-1.
