Pass Illinois’ Budget!
The superintendents of Districts 204 and 203 have both signed on to a grassroots effort to get a budget passed in Illinois called “Pass Illinois’ Budget!” The movement calls for legislators to end the budget impasse, improve the education funding formula and pay schools what they are owed for this year. The state owes District 203 over eight million dollars, and District 204 almost $16 million for this year alone. Nearly 400 school districts, representing 1.3 million students have signed in support of the effort.
Raising Cane’s is officially open in Naperville! This morning many gathered at the quick service chicken restaurant, located on Route 59, with the first 20 paying customers receiving free Cane’s for a year. This location is Chicagoland’s third.
Four Under 40
Yesterday the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce honored their “Four Under 40” award recipients. This year’s honorees are Ian Holzhauer, Mike Isaac, Tom Peters and Rich Janor. This is the second year the Chamber has given out this distinction to young professionals that demonstrate leadership in their community and businesses.
The championship bracket of the Naperville Invitational girls soccer tournament begins this week. Naperville Central defeated Benet Academy 2-0 on Saturday to move into the quarterfinals. The Redhawks are joined in the final eight by Neuqua Valley and two time defending Naperville Invite champion, Naperville North. The Championship game will be held on Saturday at noon.
