Last night State Senator Michael Connelly and State Representative Grant Wehrli took part in a special town hall sponsored by the Ashbury Homeowner’s Association, held in their clubhouse. The two legislators spoke with residents about proposals Governor Rauner has for turning around the state budget and how Illinois compares to surrounding states in matters like manufacturing jobs and population shifts. They also took questions from the audience.
Maintenance Costs Up:
The city of Naperville will begin paying the Naperville Park District more for Riverwalk maintenance. This after a vote at last night’s city council meeting where the group voted to pay around $6,000 more annually to maintain the additional land the city now owns along the Water Street Development. The city currently pays the park district to maintain other parts of the Riverwalk through an intergovernmental agreement.
Emergency Drill Tomorrow:
Tomorrow Edward Hospital will be conducting a full-scale emergency drill with the help of local police, fire and emergency management departments. The event is geared to ensure that employees and emergency workers are fully prepared in case of a local disaster. The drill will occur from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m., and will take place at a number of locations on the Edward Hospital campus.
It was announced earlier this year that Glenbard North, Lake Park, Wheaton Warrenville South, and Wheaton North will be leaving the DuPage Valley Conference following the 2017-18 school year. Yesterday the five remaining DVC schools announced that the conference would operate as a five-school conference for the 2018-19 season. The five schools are Naperville Central, Naperville North, Metea Valley, Neuqua Valley, and Waubonsie Valley. It is yet to be seen if more schools will be added for 2019 and beyond. Naperville Central and Naperville North are the only schools remaining from the original DVC formation in 1975. Metea, Neuqua, and Waubonsie joined in 2015.
